90 Day Run For Your Dreams

ALL OR NOTHING

This blog is dedicated to achieving my dreams and helping others achieve theirs by sharing my story and what I learn along the way. But it is being birthed at a time where I am starting an epic challenge to go after my dream more than ever before. One of the reasons for creating this blog is so I can share the journey that I am about to embark on what we call a "90 Day Run."

What's a 90 Day Run?
Its a period of 90 days of concentrated effort on your dreams. For 90 days the majority of your time is spent achieving the one dream you want most. This allows you to accomplish big dreams in a faster period of time and gives you momentum quickly to keep you motivated to go further than ever before. It can be extreme, but its not for the weak. It's for people who want to get radical about achieving their dreams.

**On this blog I will be recording daily what I am doing for my 90 Day Run and posting a more detailed description of a 90 Day Run specific to my industry. If you are interested in that you can see the blog post here and keep checking back for daily updates on my progress.

Here's How you Do a 90 Day Run (the simple version)
A 90 Day a Run shouldn't require too much training. In my industry of network marketing we focus on one goal which is sharing the dream with others and helping a specific number of people achieve their dream.

1. You need to start by choosing one goal to focus on.
Just one and make sure its something you can achieve in 90 days or less that will make a significant difference in your life and is meaningful to you.

Ex: Learn 500 words in Spanish fluently.

2. Set a deadline for when to achieve that goal, such as 90 days, but it can be shorter depending on your goal.

3. Make a list of every activity that would help you achieve that goal
Ex: Watching the Spanish channel with subtitles, practicing with my fluent friend Mark and reading my Spanish text book

4. Make a list of every activity you have to do on a regular basis
Ex: Go to work, pick up the kids, spend time with my spouse

5. Make a list of activities you will sacrifice to accomplish your goal.
During these minutes or hours you gain back you will be focusing on your goal, that's how you gain momentum and achieve it faster than usual.
Ex: Watching TV, hanging out with friends every Friday night, taking long showers.

Step 3 and 4 gives you everything you are "allowed" to do for the next period of 90 days or whatever you have set for your deadline. If its not on the list, you can't do it! This is how you keep yourself focused and sure to actually achieve your dreams.

5. Write out your vision statement

This is simply a short statement on what you want to accomplish in the 90 day run. You need to specifically explain your goal, but also include how achieving your goal will change your life. Speak about your goal as if it already happened. This vision is something you should keep written down and accessible to re-read for motivation as you go through your run.

Ex: On January 25th 2014 I will have learned 500 words of Spanish well enough to have a simple conversation with my fluent friend Mark. I will feel so proud. I love speaking Spanish and Mark and I will celebrate by showing off my new skills to his family. The next time I travel to Mexico I will be able to haggle in Espanol to get the best prices and make friends in their own language. My new talent will open many doors for me and I will continue to learn as I practice the words I have mastered.

6. Get Accountability
Your ready to go out there and kill it, but you need to make sure you don't give up when things get hard. Tell at least two people your plan to do a 90 day run toward your goal. Ask them and permit them to check up on your progress and encourage you not to quit. When you are finished they are first people to thank and share your success with.

Now you just do it!
Everyday spend as much time as possible on activities that bring you closer to your goal. Sacrifice all other activities that distract and even some that are good, but can wait till your done. You should feel tired and want to quit at some point because its hard. If its not that hard, you aren't doing it right! When you start to get tired just remind yourself only a little longer till its all over and you can relax. Push yourself to that day of rest, call your friends keeping you accountable for support and re-read your vision statement. You can do it! And when its all done you will have accomplished some amazing goals of yours and built some great self-discipline.
